About Me

Enie Hensel | PhD Candidate at North Carolina State University

I am a marine ecologist interested in how human-induced changes affect ecologically and economically important species and how this might cascade to community- and ecosystem-level dynamics. I use a combination of field experiments and observations in real world settings to help apply novel ecological research to wildlife management and conservation.

I grew up along the coastlines of Florida, and have experienced first hand how dependent we are on coastal ecosystems services including protection from storms, food and job security, and recreation with incredible views. My background and professional experiences has led me to pursue a career that will help mitigate negative human impacts on coastal and nearshore ecosystem resiliency.

Please enjoy surfing through my website for more detailed information on my experiences in marine research, education, community outreach, and simply enjoying the salt life.
